7 Months Old

Layna's top, right front tooth decided to make an appearance for Layna's 7-month birthday. She was very cranky and Mommy and Daddy couldn't do much to help her through the pain. Mommy and Daddy tried frozen teething rings, frozen wash cloth, ice, teething gel, infant tylonel, and just holding her. Layna would bite on her pacifier; She doesn't use it to sooth herself, she uses it as a teether.

Layna doesn't sleep well at all when it is hot and humid out, which makes it hard for Mommy and Daddy to break her bad sleep habits. She still only falls asleep when being carried and stays asleep on Daddy or in Mommy and Daddy's bed. She usually stays asleep for 20 minutes in her crib.

Mommy and Daddy are slowly trying to get Layna into good sleeping habits. Instead of walking around with her, they lay in bed with her and let her cry until she's asleep. If she can move, she will move and never fall asleep.

Layna is on the go ! She gets fussy when she is being held and just wants to explore and play on the floor. She stands up whenever she has a chance. She responds to her name most of the time.

The Beach with the Girls

Layna has been so active lately ! The pack'n'play is up to keep her "under control". She climbs all over Mommy and Daddy on the couch, and when she sees something she is on the go to get it. She knows how to sit up now: the easy way - push herself up when she's on her belly, and the hard way - sit up. Yes, Baby Girl has some major ab muscles ! She is pulling herself up to a stand more frequently now, and she is starting to crawl on her hands and knees. Sometimes when she's on her hands and knees, she pushes up on her toes.

Mommy swears she knows when she's doing something she's not. She will stop doing what she's doing, look at Mommy and continue on. Also, Layna is "talking" a lot more these days. Her squeals that sound like she's about to cry are actually squeals in delight and laughter. She's a very smiley baby too...

Mommy brings Layna outside to relax and get some fresh air, and Layna just wants to pull and eat the grass. Mommy needs a big blanket to get the grass from her mouth. Layna's top teeth may be coming in because Layna is drooling everywhere and always biting everything.

Layna and Mommy went to the beach with Kim, Nina, Kait and Aislyn. It was a little breezy but besides that it was a perfect beach day. The water was perfect, and Layna dipped her toes in, which she loved. She liked the wet sand, and wanted to put it in her mouth.

Baby on the Go !

the cake Mommy made for Layna to celebrate making it to 6 months
~Layna has accomplished in 6 months and Mommy and Daddy are still surviving~

Yesterday Layna had her 6 months check-up where she got her 3rd set of vaccines, which she didn't appreciate one bit. However, she didn't get a fever this time - whew ! We had to see a different pediatrician because Layna's had changed to a different location. The doctor was amazed at how strong Layna is. Everytime she would lay her down to do the physical, Layna would try to sit up or roll over. She even tried to sit up when the nurse came in to give her her vaccines. Layna weighed in at 18 pounds and 26 inches long.

Layna had her 6 month photos taken on Tuesday. Here is the link to the preview photos of Layna's 6 months photos: (if its not a link, just copy and paste it)

All day yesterday, Layna was on the move.. lunging and "crawling" around on the floor. She reached for Mommy and Daddy's hands to pull herself up to her feet. If she can get to something else to grab on to, she will try to pull herself up - yes she still tries to do it in the bath tub ! Her determination must be the cause of her advance gross motor skills. Enjoy watching her "slither" around on her belly !

She's a girl who loves to laugh and Mommy doesn't have to rub Layna's belly with her face anymore. Layna laughs at funny sounds and facial expressions and squeals when she is playing. She has laughed in her sleep a few times which is the cutest and funniest thing ever. Here's a quick snippet of Daddy rubbing his face on Layna's belly. She laughs just like Mommy: when it comes to much to laugh, she yells:

Today Mommy had put Layna in her crib to relax, she wouldn't nap, so some quiet time in the crib would let her relax a little. Mommy went upstairs and Daddy came down stairs and to his surprise Layna Bayna was standing holding onto the crib; she had pulled herself up ! Also, Mommy was playing with Layna on the ground and holding Layna's hand and she stepped up with one foot and then the other to stand. This baby girl is learning super fast ! She still struggles on sitting up, but she is getting there.

Layna's First Trip to the Beach

Today was Layna's first trip to the beach. Mommy, Daddy and Layna went to Horseneck Beach. It was a beautiful, sunny, hot day. Layna hung out in her tent trying to get to everything in there. She was such a happy baby at the beach smiley most of the time. Her curiosity of the world around gets stronger with every passing day. She is starting to be able to stand up when holding on to something, and when she is sitting, she catches herself instead of letting herself tip over.

Layna loves her baths, but she is too strong for her own good. She will reach over the edge and try to pull herself up and goes from sitting to laying on her belly. Bath time is starting to become a challenging task.

Layna is doing a lot better with poopy diapers since she has started out on the soy formula. Mommy may try to give her some baby oatmeal within the next week. The WIC nutritionist said the baby rice cereal will probably make her constipated still.

Layna is 5 and 1/2 months old and soon she will be able to have her first taste of real foods - some kind of veggies.

Lately ...

Layna is doing great developing. She can sit up by herself until she leans back and falls backwards. She will lean forward reaching for something and tip over and move onto her belly and doesn't know what to do from there. She tries crawling with her head on the floor and her legs moving trying to get herself somewhere but she doesn't get anywhere - maybe a few inches. Layna is always interested in what is on Mommy's and Daddy's plate and what they are drinking. She "climbs" all over us trying to get to everything. She is a very determined baby, and Mommy and Daddy are in trouble when she starts crawling.

Layna has two teeth now! Her second tooth came in around May 19.

Mommy's graduation was on May 23rd. Grandma and Grandpa Robidoux, Aunt Slavka, Aunt Rose and Conner, Uncle Austin, Uncle Andre and Nicole, and Daddy attended the graduation. It was cloudy but near the end the sun came out along with the heat.

Layna has been sleeping through the nights since she has been switched to soy formula. She is finally started to take 5 ounces per feeding and using a medium (3 month old +) nipple.
